PURPOSE:To manufacture a film with a good, smooth surface accuracy, a high strength and a high Young's modulus by using an endless belt or a drum as a bearing surface, and also using a gold plated metal at least for the surface in contact with a dope. CONSTITUTION:An optical anisotropic dope, substantially consisting of poly(p- phenyleneterephthalamide) having logarithmic viscosity of 3.5 or more and sulfuric acid of 95wt% or more, is cast on the bearing surface, retaining the optical anisotropy, and after being transformed to optical isotropic properties by moisture-absorbing and/or heating, said dope is coagulated, and after washing, the same is dried, restricting the shrinking of the film. As for the bearing face, an endless belt or a drum is used. At least the surface on which the dope is cast should be of a gold-plated metal, and the bearing surface is preferably finished to have a specular surface of Rmax 0.2S or less for example, preferably 0.1S or less. |
