Language laboratory system with linked desks - which are moved around on castors and supplied with electricity from overhead distribution point

The system has a number of student desks (2) which can be freely moved about and supported by a tubular steel structure mounted on castors. This structure has a tall column (2) on the left-hand side of each desk (1) through which the current lead for supplying the desk (1) passes from a rotary head (8) at the top of the column, from which an overhead cable (3) is strung to a central distributor sphere (4). The central instructor desk (5) is similarly supplied via an overhead cable (7) from the distributor sphere (4) hanging from the ceiling. This system allows a good degree of flexibility of the possible layouts since the desks are not secured to the floor and no cables need to be run along at floor level.
