PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of operation switches in the arrangement that a test pattern is printed on a sheet of paper in the test print mode and the sheet is exhausted selectively to one of a plurality of exhaust devices. SOLUTION: Before starting the test printing, the user establishes the full condition, i.e., non-admissible condition for sheet exhaust, where the exhaust trays 34-36 of an FD exhaust tray 23, FU exhaust tray 25, and sorter 30 are filled with sheets except for the one to which he wants to exhaust the sheets, and he turns on their overflow sensors 26, 27, 34a, 35a, 36a. When a push switch 1 is depressed, a CPU checks which overflow sensor is off, and the test pattern consisting of checker, lattice, etc., is printed for that exhaust tray 34-36 of the tray/sorter which is off, followed by exhaustion. |
