PURPOSE:To facilitate the hull renewal operation of an LNG carrier by connecting a new and an old hulls with their outside platings removed through a flexible, water-tight member, and transfer a LNG storage tank by a transfer apparatus bridged between the two vessels. CONSTITUTION:A new hull 4 built as though on outside platings 4a corresponding to a hold were removed, and an old hull 2 with an outside platings 8 corresponding to a hold of an LNG storage tank 1 removed are floated side by side on the sea. Then, they are connected at the removed and opened sections through a flexible and water-tight member 9 and a fender buoy 5, and after a tank transfer apparatus 21 such as rails is arranged on a floor board 20 across the two holds, the tank 1 is transferred from the old hull 3 to the new hull 4. Thus, there is no need of filling into and draining from the hull at the time of the tank transfer, facilitating the hull renewal operation for an LNG vessel.
