A roller body made from composite material, in particular for use as a conveyor roller, comprising a centrifugally-cast skirt (1) and intended for the iron and steel industry, comprises an external, high-strength first metal skirt (4), an inner, low-alloy second metal skirt (3) linked therewith, and with at least one connection piece (2, 2') located on the front side, in particular a trunnion, which is linked with both metal skirt (3, 4) by a radial peripheral weld seam (6, 6', 6'', 6'''). The connecting piece (2, 2') at the front end extends by a cylindrical shoulder (7) axially to beyond the radial weld and thus completes radially towards the inside the junction between the connecting piece (2, 2') and the roller skirt (1). This weld (6, 6', 6'', 6''') is produced by the electron beam welding technique, the root (8) of the weld being in the radial height of the shoulder (7).
