The cartridge has a metal casing to withstand the vessel heat, and a bottom greater than the wear hole. This bottom is destroyed by the vessel heat when the cartridge is positioned above the wear hole, so that sand runs downwards into the hole, whilst the metal casing remains over it, covering it completely. - The cartridge has a guide which extends outwards from its bottom, inserting into the wear hole further than the hole depth so that it penetrates upwards into the sand when it reaches the wear in the hole bottom, and thus remains against the wear. - The guide consists of one or more metal pins, and the metal casing narrows upwards, with the cartridge being tetrahedral or conical. |
