PURPOSE:To obtain the magnetic disk which is high in traveling stability and less fluctuated in reproduced output by fixing annular plastic films having a prescribed thickness in the outer peripheral parts of main surfaces. CONSTITUTION:This disk is constituted by sticking the annular plastic films 12 to the outer peripheral parts of both the main surfaces of a disk body 11 by adhesive layers 13. The disk body 11 is constituted by providing a magnetic layer on at least one main surface of a flexible base body. The thickness of the annular plastic films 12, designated as t1(mum) and the thickness of the base body 2, designated as T(mum), are specified to T-20<=t1<=T+40 and t1>=10. The deformation of the disk, such as distortion and waviness generated at the time of the film formation of the magnetic layer is, therefore, corrected and the disk is adequately deformed at the time of the sliding contact with the magnetic head. The contact with the head is thus improved. The magnetic disk which is good in the traveling property and small in the fluctuation in the reproduced output and error rate over the entire track is obtd. in this way.
