Spinning wheel (I) comprises a wear-protecting coating applied using a spray technique (esp. plasma spraying), and consists of ceramic sprayable mixts. built up of: (i) 90-97 wt.% aluminium oxide (Al2O), 1.8-6 wt.% titanium dioxide (TiO2), 1.2-4 wt.% titanium nitride (TiN); (ii) 60 wt.% Al2O, 40 wt.% TiO2 as tialite; (iii) 50-60 wt.% zirconium oxide (ZrO2), 22-28 wt.% chromium oxide (Cr2O), 18-22 wt.% TiN; (iv) 50-70 wt.% ZrO2, 24-40 wt.% Cr2O, 6-10 wt.% yttrium oxide (Y2O); (v) 80-90 wt.% Cr2O, 10-20 wt.% Al2O. Pref. (i) and (ii) are added to Al2O and are converted into oxides or nitrides in a plasma. The coating is built of up to 97 wt.% Al2O, up to 60 wt.% TiO2 and up to 4 wt.% titanium hydride (TiH4), or up to 60 wt.% ZrO2, up to 28 wt.% Cr2O and up to 22 wt.% TiH4, or up to 90 wt.% Cr2O and up to 20 wt.% Al2O. The coating is built up from a mixt. of substances whose use is determined by the total iron oxide content of the mineral melt, and as the amt. of iron oxide increases, more TiN is used.
