PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the temp. or pressure at which a zirconia sintered compact exhibits plasticity and to facilitate plastic working. SOLUTION: This zirconia sintered compact has many grains of partially stabilized zirconia having <=1μm average grain diameter and contains 0.01-20wt.%, preferably 0.01-10wt.% aluminum oxide or silicon oxide based on the amt. of the partially stabilized zirconia. A compact contg. powder of partially stabilized zirconia having <=1μm average particle diameter and 0.01-20wt.% aluminum oxide or silicon oxide based on the amt. of the partially stabilized zirconia is formed and sintered. |
