IMAGE RECOGNITION METHOD

PURPOSE:To obtain an image recognition method having a small data size required for a rotational shift template being employed in the template matching of gray image. CONSTITUTION:Template matching is performed using a standard template 16 being employed when the rotational shift is not present, and a rotational shift template 17 being employed when a rotational shift is present in the image of an object to be recognized which is obtained through rotation by each rotational shift angle about the center of the standard template 16. In the rotational shift template 17 being employed, the part deviating from the region of the standard template 16 is a dead band 18 having no effect on the operation results of the coincidence of the image.
