PURPOSE: To measure a slope of a driving road on which a vehicle travels by using engine torque changing in accordance with a driving state of the vehicle without loading an additional device on the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: This device has a gear position sensing member 101 to detect a position of a transmission gear, and an engine revolution sensing member 12, a throttle valve opening sensing member 13, a brake pedal operation sensing switch S1 and an engine control device 2. The engine control device 2 measures a slope of a road surface by using computed engine torque in the case when speed changing operation is not performed after judging a speed change gear and measures a slope of a driving road by computing engine torque in the case when a change value computed about engine revolution and a degree of a load and a set value are compared with each other and judged, and measures a slope of a driving road by computing engine torque in the case when the change value of engine revolution and a degree of a load is within a set value. |
