Card edge connector with shim lock and extractor mechanism

The socket includes a housing which defines an elongated slot extending along an elongation axis and dimensioned for receiving an edge portion of the circuit card. A number of contacts extends into the slot for electrically engaging respective contact pads on the circuit card. Leads of the contacts extends to an exterior of the housing for electrically engaging respective circuit traces on the substrate. A card guide is arranged at one end of the slot, and it includes first and second spaced apart walls arrayed on respective opposite sides of the elongation axis. A space between the walls is greater than a thickness of the circuit card.
