A system for solids sepn. according to shape to produce at least two different fractions, the first fraction being longer than a roughly cubic second fraction, includes a screen (7) with a mesh width for passage of the second fraction and which is spaced (a) from a device for restricting the headspace above the screen (7) at least in the region of the screen openings (9). The spacing (a) corresps. to at least the greatest particle thickness of the second fraction but, in any case, is less than the smallest length of the first fraction so that the first fraction cannot be upright for falling through the screen (7).
