PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery securing safety after the battery is assembled and capable of being manufactured in a short time by specifying the shape of the surface portion of a carbon negative electrode, and specifying the ratio of the total surface area of lithium deposition thin film formed regions. SOLUTION: The surface portion of a carbon negative electrode has a shape periodically arranged with lithium deposition thin film formed regions and lithium thin film nonexistential regions.
