Preparation of N-substituted di:methyl-morpholine mixtures useful as fungicides

Preparation of N-substituted dimethyl-morpholines containing 40% N-alkyl-2,5-dimethyl-morpholine starting from a long-chain amine (I) and a mixture of 2,2'-dichloropropyl-ethers (II) is claimed. The novelty comprises (1) using as (II) a mixture of 2,2'-dichloro-diisopropyl-ether and 2,2'-dichloro-n-propyl-isopropyl-ether in a % ratio of 70-80:20-30; (2) using as (I) i-tridecylamine which comprises up to 60-70% tridecyl isomers and up to 26% dodecyl isomers; and (3) effecting the reaction in the presence of an acid acceptor and a solvent.
