The machine has two relatively moveable cross sealing jaws for a tubular sheet. It has a device to recognize content (10) enclosed between the sealing jaws (1,2), with a pressure sensor (6) to measure the contact pressure. A conduit feeds a measured value from the sensor via an electronic evaluator (7) to the machine control (8). This value is compared with a stored value, which has been measured when no product was present between the jaws. The machine is a vertical bag-forking machine. The sealing jaws consists of magnesium alloy and rotate in opposite directions about parallel axis.
