The compressor is for an air conditioning installation in a motor vehicle consisting of a housing (31) made up of several parts enclosing a pressurized fluid transfer installation. The housing (31) consists of two parts (33,35) whose first part surrounds a cavity (37) containing the pressurized fluid transfer installation (3), with a primary wall zone (39) whose thickness conforms to the high pressure present in the cavity (37) and a second wall zone (41) adjacent to the primary wall zone (39) and whose wall thickness is reduced in relation to that of the primary wall zone. This second zone is not exposed to the internal pressure present in the cavity and serves directly in the closing of the housing.
