The invention relates to a urethral catheter which can be introduced into a bladder (30) by the urethra (20). The inventive catheter has a flexible catheter tube (34), said catheter tube being considerably pressure-resistant in a longitudinal direction and having a front open end (36) and a back end (38). Protective tubing (40) consisting of a thin, highly flexible material, especially Latex is also provided. Said protective tubing (34) a) has a first end area and a second end area (42, 44), b) when the catheter is ready for use, is arranged in such a way that its first end area (42) and a part of its overall length are located inside the catheter tube (34), and c) is guided over the front end (36) of the catheter tube (34), changes direction and is guided back onto the exterior wall of the catheter tube (34), where the second end area is located.
