PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a grain oriented silicon steel sheet having stable magnetic properties of a high order by means of a manufacturing process where the conventional decarburizing annealing stage by continuous annealing is omitted. SOLUTION: In the ordinary method of manufacturing a grain oriented silicon steel sheet, a hot rolled plate is subjected, after or without annealing, to cold rolling twice while process-annealed between cold rolling stages to the prescribed product sheet thickness. The resultant cold rolled sheet, having a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.005-0.06% C, 2-4% Si, <=0.01% Al, 0.03-0.2% Mn, 0.01-0.04% of S or Se, <=0.01% N, and the balance essentially Fe, is subjected, without application of successive continuous decarburizing annealing, to application of dry coating with alumina as a separation agent at annealing by (50 to 500) g/m<2> per side and then to high temp. batch annealing in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. |
