PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid mis-detction of a motion of a video image and fade switching as flicker by detecting a periodic part in a time serial signal level change in a television video signal including flicker video image where two cuts are alter natively edited as a flicker video image. SOLUTION: The white circle and the black circle in a frame configuration of a video image denote pixels, and the video image has a sampling structure in horizontal, vertical directions and in a time (t) direction. Paying attention to a change in the luminance of the pixels marked with the black circle in the time (t) direction, one cycle of flicker is detected when the luminance changes from a frame 1 to a frame 2 and the change restores to the original luminance from a frame 3 to a frame 4. When this change takes place consecutively in terms of time, it is discriminated that the flicker is detected. Thus, mis-detectio is considerably reduced more compared with the case wherein only a change in the video image is detected. |
