CATHETERS COMPRISING A PLURALITY OF OSCILLATORS AND METHODS FOR THEIR USE

A catheter (10) comprises a catheter body (12) having a vibrational transducer (30) disposed at or near its distal end. The vibrational transducer (30) comprises a plurality of oscillators (32) such as bending plate oscillators (40) or other conventional oscillators each having a vibrational surface (34) capable of imparting pressure waves. The plurality of oscillators (32) may be disposed at a distal end of the catheter body (12) or may alternatively be disposed within the catheter body (12). The catheter (10) may further comprise lumens (70) for drug delivery, balloons for encircling the transducer structures, or the like. The catheters (10) are useful in a variety of lumenal therapeutic procedures, including durg delivery, stenotic disruption within blood vessel, and the like.
