PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise an opening ratio and to improve display quality by constituting a black matrix by an electrically conductive light shielding layer formed in the state of being conductively connected to the picture element electrode of a picture element area. SOLUTION: On the surface side of a transparent substrate 109, upper layer side inter-layer insulation film 115 and the chrome layer 116bb (electrically conductive light shielding layer) on the surface side area provided. The chrome layer 116bb is conductively connected to the picture element electrode 106 through the connection hole 115a of the upper layer side inter-layer insulation film 115 at a position diagonal to the formation area of a thin film transistor(TFT) 108 composed of a drain 107 or the like in the picture element area 101bb. Also, the chrome layer 116bb is formed so as to position the outer end edge 116x in the boundary area between the picture element area 101bb and the picture element area 101ba..., that is, right above data lines 102a and 102b and a gate line 103b, and the data lines 102a and 102b and the gate line 103b are in the state of being insulated and separated through the inter-layer insulation films 113 and 115. |
