FLAME-RETARDANT RESIN COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant resin compsn. which gives a thin-walled molded item excellent in flame retardance, impact resistance and moldability, and is excellent in the prevention of corrosion of metal molds by compounding a specific rubber-contg. styrene resin with a flame retardant. SOLUTION: This compsn. contains 100 pts.wt. rubber-contg. styrene resin and 5-50 pts.wt. flame retardant. The rubber-contg. styrene resin comprises a graft copolymer G forming a disperse phase and a matrix resin M forming a continuous phase. The graft copolymer G comprises a mixture of two kinds of rubbery polymers different in particle size distribution and graft branches which comprise copolymer chains formed from at least two kinds of monomers including an arom. vinyl monomer and a vinyl cyanide monomer and are grafted onto the rubbery polymers. The matrix resin M is a copolymer of at least two kinds of monomers including an arom. vinyl monomer and a vinyl cyanide monomer and has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.35-0.6. The content of the rubbery polymers in the rubber-contg. styrene resin is 8-40 wt.%.
