PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound hopeful of the use as a surfactant by introducing both mannose and glucose residues as constituent saccharides into the molecule. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I [G is anα-D or L- glucopyranose residue; M is anα-D or L-mannopyranose residue, and the carbon atom on the 1-site of this residue and the carbon atom on the 3-site of the glycerol residue make an ether linkage to each other; C(=O)R1 and C(=O)R2 are each an acyl, the latter makes an ester linkage to the carbon atom on the carbon atom on the 6-site of M], e.g. a compound of formula II (R is H). This compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by culturing microorganisms belonging to the genus Flavobacterium and having the ability to produce this compound of formula I [e.g. Flavobacterium marinotypicum (ATCC 19260)] in a medium and then collecting the aimed compound from the cultured product.
