PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver that automatically conducts various operations as being set in advance. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver that receives a broadcast wave resulting from multiplexing program data, program information denoting a characteristics of a program and a program index is provided with a reception section 11 of a broadcast wave, a demultiplexer section 12 that demultiplexes the broadcast wave, a program index management section 15, a management section 14 for program information and an operation description data management section 22 that manages operation description data describing operations of each section of the broadcast receiver. When receiving an event being a signal denoting an event caused in each section, the operation description data management section 22 interprets the operation description data corresponding to the event, outputs an operation request to each section so as to manage the operations of each section. Thus, the operations of each section are totally managed and controlled automatically according to the operation description data.
