PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely restore nozzles without using a suction pump in a simple constitution by driving an actuator with a higher nozzle discharge pressure at a maintenance time than at a normal printing time to discharge remaining ink and a diluent liquid. SOLUTION: A discharge liquid storage part 21 of a printer head 20 consists of, e.g. an ink storage part 21a for storing an ink undiluted liquid 25a, and a diluent liquid storage part 21b for storing a diluent liquid 25b. The parts are respectively connected to nozzles 23a and 23b via pressure chambers 22a and 22b. Laminate type piezoelectric elements 24a and 24b are arranged above the pressure chambers 22a and 22b via a diaphragm 26. When the printer head 20 reaches a maintenance position to carry out a restoration operation for nozzles, the laminate type piezoelectric elements 24a and 24b as an actuator for discharging the ink or diluent liquid are driven with a higher voltage, thereby discharging the ink or diluent liquid in the nozzles with a higher pressure than when printing is carried out. |
