PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a diffuser capable of irradiating a body to be irradiated with a light having no unevenness in the quantity of light and capable of minimizing the loss of the quantity of light emitted from a light source by laminating a matte diffusion layer comprising a coating material containing a transparent binder and light diffusing particles on one face of a diffusion substrate. SOLUTION: The diffuser 1 has a diffusion substrate 11 and a matte diffusion layer 12 and is disposed at the bottom part on the inside of a lens holder in such a way that the matte diffusion layer 12 confronts a condenser lens opposite to a negative film as a body to be irradiated. The matte diffusion layer 12 is formed by coating one face of the diffusion substrate 11 with a coating material prepared by mixing and dispersing light diffusing silica particles having about 1-7μm particle diameter in a transparent vinyl chloride resin as a binder by way of cyclohexane as a solvent. The matte diffusion layer compensates the insufficient light diffusing properties of the diffusion substrate 11 without lowering the light transmittance.
