PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio portable terminal which performs non-voice data exchange, without cutting during sound call, furthermore performing addition of new systems (communication network, etc.), by a communication common carrier, or functional addition to an existing system, and a communication method of the radio portable terminal. SOLUTION: The non-voice data exchange is performed by providing with a data multiplexing means to multiplex voice data and several kinds of other data to transmit to an opposite party terminal, a data separation means which separates the voice data and the several kinds of other data from the multiplexed data received from the opposite party terminal into classification data and passes it to a reproduction means corresponding to each of the classification data, and furthermore, a functional confirmation means which verifies the existence of the data separation means in the opposite side terminal.
