To compensate for the effect of rotary speed on the control torque characteristic of a clutch, in a vehicle transmission, the rotary speed of the clutch is measured and the required control point is modified according to the rotary speed. Sensors (18,20,22,24,26) are linked to the control (14), to give motor and vehicle performance data and the setting of the driving controls.
