AUTOMATIC SELECTION OF BACKGROUND IMAGE FOR DISPLAY ON MOBILE TELEPHONE

PURPOSE: An Automatic selection of a background image for a display on a mobile telephone is provided to display the background image on a display unit of the mobile telephone in a simple and flexible manner. CONSTITUTION: After a user turned on a mobile phone(S201), a start up sequence initiates the elementary functions of the mobile phone(S202) and then checks the presence of the SIM(Subscriber Identification Module) card(S203). On a positive check result, an IMSI(International Mobile Subscriber Identification) is read from an SIM(S301) followed by identifying the contract operator providing the SIM card from this file(S302). With the identity of the contract operator known, a background image representing his identity is selected(S303) by a selecting device, is read from the memory by the retrieving means(S304), and is finally presented on the graphical display by a driver device(S305).
