PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a film for a capacitor which is superior in thermal characteristics. SOLUTION: The film is a biaxially oriented film, which is mainly composed of polyethylene-2, 6-naphthalenedicarboxylate. It contains two kinds of spherical silica having different average particle diameters. The lengthwise thermal distortion factor RMD (T) of a film at a temperature T deg.C is defined as RMD (T)= [LMD (T)-LMD (35)]/LMD (35)}×100(%), based on a length LMD (t) in a lengthwise direction (MD) of a film at a temperature t deg.C. The lengthwise thermal distortion factor RMD (150) of a film at a temperature 150 deg.C is defined as -1.5%<=RMD (150)<0.0%. The number of fly specks, whose average diameter exceeds 30μm, 10 pieces/m2 or less.
