The invention concerns an open-end spinning apparatus with a spin-rotor (1), the shaft (3) of which is supported by an aerostatic, radial bearing (5) with an air gap (9) between the bearing assembly and the shaft (3) and the invention further concerns the aerostatic bearing for this purpose. In accord with the invention, the open-end spinning apparatus is thereby improved, in that the construction material for the bearing surface of the spin-rotor (1) and/or the bearing surface of the radial bearing (5) is polyimide or Aramid. In spite of possibly occurring bearing surface contacts, the operating life of the radial bearing is substantially increased by the use of these materials.
