摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of a speed change shock as an engine stop is prevented from occurring by a method wherein during speed change of an automatic speed change gear, the ignition timing of an engine is delayed, meanwhile, when a filling amount of fuel-air mixture is below a given value, the delay of the ignition timing is released. CONSTITUTION:An engine is provided with an automatic speed change gear 20 the speed change step of which is properly selected according to the running state thereof. In this case, the ignition timing of the engine is set by a means 51. The means 51 is controlled by a means 52 so that the ignition timing of the engine is delayed during speed change of the automatic speed change gear 20. A signal related to an amount of fuel-air mixture with which the engine is filled is detected by a means 53. When a detected amount of filled fuel-air mixture is below a given value, control of the delay of the ignition timing by means of the means 52 is released by a means 54. Namely, when, even during speed change in which control is made so that the ignition timing is delayed, a vehicle is decelerated, control of delay is prohibited, and a drop in the number of revolutions of the engine and an engine stop are prevented from occurring.
