PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a constipation-suppressing agent suitable for preventing and improving of constipation, containing an oligogalacturonic acid and/or its salt. SOLUTION: This arterial sclerosis-suppressing agent contains an oligogalacturonic acid of the formula and/or its salt ((n) is 0-20). An administrating amount of the agent is 10-100,000mg for an adult per 1 day, in dividing to 1-several times and preferably is administered per os. This constipation- suppressing agent has slight side effect, mildly suppresses constipation and has high safety, thus a composition such as a medicine or a food, etc., containing the agent is suitable for curing or prevention of constipation and improving of dejection. The compound of the formula is obtained by hydrolyzing or acid- hydrolyzing pectin by an enzyme such as pectinase. As a using salt, an iron salt is the most preferable. |
