<p>A mask for use with panic attack patients which are, or might be, hyperventilating consists of a rim section to which is attached a bag made of a material impenetrable to the passage of air, the rim can be sealingly held against the face around the patient's nose and mouth so the patient exhales into the bag and inhales only the air in the bag which has an increased carbon dioxide content due to rebreathing. The mask is angled so that in use the patient should have a clear field of vision allowing maximal vision and subsequent sense of control of one's environment.</p> |
