PURPOSE:To enhance the orientation of C axis extending over the whole thin strip by a method wherein, when a thin strip is manufactured by rapidly cooling down and coagulating a rare earth-iron magnetic alloy melt using a single roll, the surface temperature and circumferential speed of the single roll are respectively specified and temperature of the melt exceeds a specific value. CONSTITUTION:Within the manufacturing process of thin strip by rapidly cooling down and coagulating rare earth-iron magnetic alloy melt using a single roll, the surface temperature, circumferential speed of the single roll are respectively specified as 100 deg.-300 deg.C, 15-30m/sec. at the melt temperature exceeding 1300 deg.C. In the thin strip manufactured conforming to said specifications, the easy magnetized axis (C axis) extending over the whole thickness direction is orientated in the perpendicular direction to the thin strip surface. By using such a thin strip, a permanent magnet having excellent magnetic properties requiring no heat treatment at all can be manufactured. |
