PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method for a steel where a slab free from central segregation can be produced. SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method for a steel where a molten steel is poured into a mold and is solidified so as to produce a slab, it includes: controlling so that the solidified structure of the slab is composed of columnar crystals, and applying a static magnetic field at a position where the solid phase rate of the slab is 30 to 75%, and applying electromagnetic force in the direction opposite to the casting direction to the cross-section in the width direction of the slab.
