摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional material which uses siliceous shale, is excellent in both of humidity conditioning and gas adsorption and can be used for various purposes by further adding the high gas adsorption function for different gas, to the siliceous shale known to have high humidity conditioning ability and high adsorption ability for basic gas, and to provide a technique capable of easily and freely imparting a desired performance according to use to the siliceous shale and, thereby, capable of freely designing the functional material having the various characteristics above described. SOLUTION: The humidity conditioning and gas adsorption material comprises the siliceous shale having a micropore diameter distribution measured according to a nitrogen adsorption method, wherein the micropore diameter has a peak in two regions of the range of 10-13 nm and 3.0 nm or less and the average micropore diameter falls into the range of 11 to 14 nm.
