PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a puffer type gas circuit breaker with a simple structure which has improved cutoff performance.SOLUTION: A movable main contact 11 and a fixed main contact 12, as well as a movable arc contact 13 and a fixed arc contact 14 are arranged inside a filling container 2 for arc-extinguishing insulation gas. The movable arc contact 13 and the fixed arc contact 14 are surrounded by an insulation nozzle 16. The puffer type gas circuit breaker comprises: a heat puffer chamber 22 which guides, into a cylinder 21 fixing the insulation nozzle 16, the insulation gas whose pressure and temperature have been raised by the heat of arc generated in an arc space 19; and a machine puffer chamber 28 which is provided in series with the heat puffer chamber 22 and raises the pressure of the insulation gas by mechanical compression. Inside the heat puffer chamber 22, the puffer type gas circuit breaker further comprises a dividing member 26 for separating and/or stirring the flow of the insulation gas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
