PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which is simply configured and which can estimate PM content in exhaust gas on the upstream side of a collector, arranged in an exhaust pipe, with a high degree of accuracy, and a method for estimating the component amount of the exhaust gas.PROCEDURE FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM: An engine 10 includes an estimation device 40 that estimates PM content qin exhaust gas on the upstream side of a collector 26 from a detection value (NOx content) qof a NOx sensor 31, on the basis that NOx emission qfrom the inside 13 of a cylinder and PM emission qestablishes a trade-off relationship.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
