A power quality disturbance source locating system and locating method thereof. The locating system comprises: a power quality management primary station and power quality online-monitoring devices (PQMD) connected to the primary stations via an Ethernet connection. The PQMDs are placed at each monitoring point of a transmission line of a radial power distribution system, and connected together via the Ethernet connection. When an actual disturbance event occurs in the system and is detected, the PQMD is configured to record a point in time at which a disturbance source is detected, and notify, over the Ethernet by broadcasting, the other PQMDs in the network to set the point in time as a reference to activate an disturbance wave recording system, wherein the disturbance wave recording system is configured to record sampled data of N cycles of waves before the point in time and N cycles of waves after the point in time, and transmit the sampled data in real time to the power quality management primary station, thereby establishing a system coverage matrix and a system direction matrix by mutual cooperation among the PQMDs, and locating the disturbance source. |
