PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment dispersing agent which can significantly improve the liquidity of an ink or paint containing a pigment, can prevent particle aggregation of the pigment, and may manufacture colored articles that prevent generation of impurities and exhibit excellent gloss and clarity.SOLUTION: A pigment dispersing agent is a compound represented by the general formula (1), a quaternary ammonium salt thereof, an amine salt thereof, or a metal salt thereof. In the formula, X is a residue of a heterocyclic compound or an aromatic compound that may have a substituent, where the site bound to N=N- is an aromatic ring or heterocycle; and n is a number from 0.2 to 3.SELECTED DRAWING: None
