A tape magazine 2 is inserted in a recording and reproducing machine 1 by means of a guide member 6 movable about a pivot 5 from a first position, Fig. 1, in which it can accept the magazine to a second position, Fig. 3, in which the magazine is engaged by the tape driving apparatus 3 disposed within a well 19 of the machine. Insertion of the magazine moves a support member 9 on the guide to a position in which a hook-shaped part of the support engages over the end 18 of a locking device 14 which is also movable about the pivot 5. When the magazine and guide are moved into the well the support disengages from the locking device 14 but the spring 8 which was extended during insertion of the magazine now urges it into contact with a stop 21 in the well and the magazine is locked in this position by a latch member 22. The guide is returned to its first position by spring 16 when operation of a member 23 releases the latch 22. |
