Sewing thread package. Comprises a suitable container for a core-less pirn of thread. One of the container's end has an opening through which a support pin passes to support the container. The other end has an opening, axially aligned with the pirn's centre, on which an adjustable closing cover is mounted. When the cover is in a first position the thread can be pulled out through the opening in a second cover position. The thread is held or wedged between the container's end and the cover and cannot be pulled out through the opening
