PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain a cyclopentenone derivative hopeful of pharmacological activity as an analogous compound of antibiotics, and useful as an intermediate for perfumes and medicines. SOLUTION: This cyclopentenone derivative is expressed by formula I (e.g. 4-acetoxy-4-acetoxymethyl-5-methoxy-2-cyclopentenone) and is obtained by reaction of a hexadienone derivative of formula II (e.g. 2,6-diacetoxy-1-methoxy-1,3- hexadien-5-one) in the presence of an acidic compound (e.g. trifluoroacetic acid) in acetic anhydride pref. at 0-30 deg.C for 3-72h. It is preferable that the amount of the acidic compound to be used for the reaction is 40-50 molar times that of the compound of formula II. |
