PURPOSE:To easily extend the network employing a star coupler in which number of terminals per each node of the star coupler is reduced. CONSTITUTION:Three optical branching/synthesis devices 2 are connected as a triangle and terminals x1, x2, x3 are led out from each optical branching/ synthesis device 2 is formed by, e.g. one waveguide path into two waveguide paths whose width differs from each other. An input signal v1 to one terminal x1 is divided into equally to the other two terminals x2, x3 and outputted. Moreover, the signal is not substantially returned to its own terminal. |
