The plastic layer prevents broken glass pieces making contact with the passengers; the plastic has a high elastic stress capacity, a low medulus of elasticity 2000 kp/cm2 and a high rupturing expansion >60% at a plastic deformation 2%. Pref. the surface layer is an aliphatic polyurethane and the safety glass pane contains an inter. layer of polyvinyl butyral.
