Moisture cross-linkable thermoplastic polymers - comprising olefin polymers with grafted silane groups

In the prodn. of moisture-cross linkable thermoplastic polymers e.g. olefin polymers or copolymers or elastomers, cpds. which contain one or more silicon hydride gps. triple bonds Si-H in the molecule are grafted on at double bonds of the thermoplasts and these re subsequently cross-linked by traces of water which may be introduced into the material in various ways. The addn-reaction of the silane cpds. pref. takes place at temps. of 160 degrees-240 degrees C esp. 180-220 degrees C. The addn. of silane cpds takes place without radical initiators so that no undesired C-C cross-linking takes place. The prods. are useful for sheating and insulation of the electric cables and conductors.
