Processing silver dye bleach material - using black and white developer with low hydroquinone content, for soft gradation

In the processing of exposed Ag dye bleach materials by (1) black-and-white development, (2) dye bleaching and (3) desilvering, black-and-white development is carried out with a soln. contg. 0.02, pref. 0.001-0.02 mole/1. hydroquinone for 5, pref. 0.5-5 min above 30 degrees C, pref. at 30-60 degrees C. The soln. pref. also contains 0.05-0.80 g/1 'Phenidone' (RTM) or 'Metol' (RTM). Soft gradation is obtd. without modifying the structure of the material and without complicated processing. The finished image also has better colour reprodn. and definition.
