This floor mat for gymnasts forms a shock-absorbent, insulated base of rubber or plastic and consists of twelve identical, rectangular mats (1-12) which form the main mat surface with a number of edge mats. The central mats are fitted together by means of 'teeth on each side, which are arranged so that the teeth on each side of the mat dovetail with the teeth on the neighbouring mat. The edge mats covetail together round each side of the main mat each having one straight edge to form the edge of the mat with four rounded corner pieces. This method produces a mat, which is easily and quickly assembled so that the parts do not slide apart while in use but can be quickly broken down to small, lightweight easily transportable parts.
